Singapore offers a wealth of options when it comes to food. Laksa is one of our favourites but top of our ‘must try’ list is chili crab. We love it! Many people regard it as being Singapore’s national dish and we have to say, we fully support this! There are many different ways to cook it and contrary to what the name suggests, it doesn’t always have to be spicy. We would love to share our favourite recipes with you and of course, stock all of the ingredients you need to cook the best version of this popular dish, no matter what your preference may be. We are fortunate in Cairns to enjoy fresh caught produce so if you’ve got a hankering for some chill crab, come in and see us!
If crab isn’t your thing, Hainanese chicken rice will wake up your taste buds. It practically melts in your mouth. Steamed white chicken is cut into thin pieces and served over fragrant rice with light soy sauce then topped with cilantro and sesame oil, accompanied by a garlic-chilli sauce. The rice is cooked in the chicken broth with ginger and pandan leaves giving it its unique fragrance. There really is something for anyone who wants to explore Singaporean food.
