Born from big dreams

From humble beginnings, our goals were anything but small. Our love of Asian food and passion for retail turned into a business. Our supermarket provides customers who love Asian food, the widest selection in Cairns. And, for those who once called Asia home, it provides a chance to reminisce and savour some of their favourite delicacies.

We soon realised that our ability to source thousands of much loved, authentic Asian ingredients could help many businesses in North Queensland. Now we also provide the highest quality wholesale products to restaurants, grocery stores and cafes.

Our Story

When I was a little girl, I used to dream of owning a shop so I could enjoy whatever food I felt like, whenever I felt like it and all for free! Fast forward to adulthood and I have achieved half of these childhood goals. I do get to enjoy whatever Asian products I want, I am just careful not to eat the profits. If anyone needs a recipe for the perfect Thai green curry though, just ask!

Dong Goog and I bought Big Asia back in 2015. We were only a grocery store then but in 2017 after a lot of planning, we spread our wings and jumped into the wholesale world. It was an exciting time. We learnt a lot very quickly about running a successful delivery company and had a lot of fun in the process.

Our team combines service with a smile and a slice of Asian culture to ensure our customers are as happy as we are.

Food is what brings people together. It gives us that culinary connection, keeps our culture alive and reminds us of our roots. It’s our greatest passion.

It doesn’t matter where our clients are from, if they share our passion for Asian food and understand the importance of only using the best quality ingredients and brands, we’re happy. Which is why we named our dog ‘Happy’, because we are!
